Dreaming Aloud by Sara Haq
Dreaming Aloud by Sara Haq
Friday 16th Oct 2015 – 21st January 2016 Dreaming Aloud is an exhibition of a selection images made by artist Sara Haq, in an inpatient psychiatric ward earlier this year. The photographs were all taken on an iPhone camera, capturing everyday moments and small rituals as made art from materials found around her. The images offer glimpses of stories that chart of the passing of time. They are excerpts from a visual diary, sharing complicated and sensitive experiences that were deeply personal, yet alarmingly public, scrutinised by multitudes of health professionals: nursing staff, psychiatrists, kitchen staff and cleaners. As a survival strategy, the artist treated the locked ward as a studio, reframing the challenging environment so as to record, process, find and make meaning from this experience exploring aspects of the human condition. Dreaming Aloud is produced by Daily Life Ltd and hosted by Bromley by Bow Centre. Bromley by Bow Health Centre
